"SME Initiative on Digital Content and Languages” information day, 21 January 2011, Luxembourg


The European Commission is organising an "Information & Networking Day"for the SME-DCL (Digital Content and Languages) Call  which will open on 1st February 2011. This event will take place on 21 January 2011,  and will be held in the Jean Monnet Conference Centre, Luxembourg. 

New European agenda to promote skills for future jobs


The European Commission adopted on 23 November 2010 its “Agenda for new skills and jobs” in which it outlines ways to ensure that there are enough people with the right education and skills to fill the jobs that will be created in the coming years.

EU-Latin American ICT Gateway - Workshop on EU-LA cooperation possibilities


On September 29-30, 2010, EULARINET, supported by PRO-IDEAL Plus, FIRST and FORESTA, organized a workshop aimed at bringing together ICT-researchers from Europe and Latin America to establish contact with potential partners and at defining future perspectives of collaboration. Strengthening the ICT policy dialogue between Europe and Latin America


On 20 September 2010, EMF and its Pro-Ideal project partners met with Latin American and Caribbean diplomats in Brussels. This meeting, hosted by the Argentine Mission, was a first step towards developing the policy dialogue between the European Union and Latin America in the field of ICT along certain lines proposed in EMF's recent position paper "Towards an Inter-regional Digital Agenda between Latin America and Europe".

Participate in the “Project Café” organized by EULARINET, together with PRO-IDEAL (PLUS), FIRST and FORESTA


In the wake of the ICT2010 event, EULARINET, together with PRO-IDEAL, PRO-IDEAL PLUS, FIRST and FORESTA organise a "Project Café" at their common event "EU-LAC ICT Gateway" on Thursday, 30 September, in the premises of the Goethe-Institute Brussels, bringing together potential project partners from the EU and Latin America.
This full day event is preceded on 29 September by a "Future Perspective" session at 4.30 p.m. and a cocktail at 7.p.m. Participation is free but registration is obligatory.

"Connecting the Worlds: the Internet of Things International": Based on the CASAGRAS 2 project, this networking session will explore the potential of linking real and virtual worlds in a global efforts. SME Research and Innovation Conference, 17-18 November 2010, Brussels


The framework of the Belgian Presidency of the EU, Wallonia organises in collaboration with the European Commission a conference focusing on the needs of “Small and Medium-sized Enterprises” in the field of “Research” and “Innovation”.

The European Commission launches a consultation on the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7)


Stakeholders in the programme (e.g. actual and potential project partners) are asked about the functioning and achievements of FP7. This input will be used to draft the Interim Evaluation of the Seventh Framework Programme. Deadline for submission of opinions is 27th August 2010.

The new ICT Work Programme 2011-2012 published


DG Information Society and Media of the European Commission have published the new ICT Work Programme for 2011-2012 . This Work Programme defines the priorities for calls for proposals that will result in projects to be launched in the period 2011-12.

Europe should reinforce its relationship with Latin America, argues the EMF in a position paper published on 29 June 2010.

EMF releases position paper on the Digital Agenda


The European Commission published A Digital Agenda for Europe, its new 5-year strategy for the ICT sector, on 18 May 2010. EMF has reviewed and discussed it internally. It now releases a position paper with its comments and contributions to the debate.
